Operations Support Services
The project focus is to develop a fuzzy logic based
application that enables foresters to arrive at  strategic
and operational prescriptive treatments for harvested areas. Fuzzy
(multivalent) theory allows for the processing of pre-defined rules
and knowledge base to quantify and assess decision accuracy. The application
will allow foresters to respond to increased government concerns over
sustainable forest management. The linkages this application creates
between silviculture research and corporate activities are a result
of the experience and past work of several people at Canfor. The experience
GISmo Solutions Ltd. has gained in working with Canfor's GENUS data
management system has provided an excellent background for the development
of the prescriptive fuzzy system.
